conjestina achieng relapses over irregular check ups medical scheme being set
Former
boxing champion Conjestina Achieng’ is admitted at Avenue Hospital in
Kisumu after taking ill again last Saturday. Her father, Clement Adalo,
is also admitted in Kisumu but at a different facility.
“The doctors said her earlier condition has recurred due to irregular check-ups. We want to ensure we have a medical scheme for her so that she does not default medication,” Kisumu nominated MCA Faridah Salim said.
Salim visited both Conjestina and her father at the hospitals and said funds for the medical cover for Conjestina are being mobilized. “She was first admitted at Kisumu East Sub county hospital but we moved her to Avenue for further medical attention,” said her elder brother William Ochieng on Tuesday.
He said that their father is at Jalaram hospital in Kisumu. “Our father got ill seven months ago and has been at different hospitals. He is now at Jalaram in Kisumu diagnosed with tuberculosis,” he said via phone.
Ochieng’ called on well wishers to come to their aid to save Conjestina and their father. “We are calling on well wishers to help us raise medical expenses for our beloved family members so that they can receive proper medical care,” he said.
Last year, Conjestina was detained at Avenue hospital over an uncleared bill of Sh595,000 but was bailed out by good Samaritans. Nairobi businessman Sam Wakiaga and Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero helped by presiding over a mini funds drive that raised Sh750,000.
Wakiaga contributed Sh300,000 while Kidero and Ida Odinga sent Sh100,000 and Sh50,000 respectively. Politician Rozah Buyu contributed Sh 50,000. Other contributors included Concilia Ondiek wife to former Ugenya MP Stephen Ondiek, veteran journalist Jeff Aguko and Rev Ken Wachianga.
