Actress Lynda Bellingham dead aged 66: Her life in pictures

Lynda Bellingham has died of colon cancer at the age of 66. The actress, best known for her long-running role as a mother in the Oxo TV adverts, had been battling the disease since being diagnosed in July 2013.

Lynda died peacefully in her husband’s arms yesterday at a London hospital, her agent Sue Latimer said in a statement today.
Asked this week how she would like to be remembered, Lynda replied simply: ‘Just an honest person’.

Tuesday August 31 A scene from the Oxo TV advertisment which will be screened Wednesday September 1, 1999 and which brings to the end a campaign of 42 series that has been running since 1983. The curtain is coming down on the Oxo family, headed by Lynda Bellingham and her screen husband, Michael Redfern, because the advertisers of the famous red stock cube fear that the ritual of tucking in to mother s home cooking has become a thing of the past. Viewers will see the family sitting down for a last meal of shephers's pie, and then, as they prepare to move house, tearful Mum is seen in her empty kitchen as she contemplates leaving the family home forever.
