Ukawa for joint candidates

The Coalition of the Defenders of the People's Constitution (Ukawa) has decided to take part in the December local government polls as a united block, saying that is a major step towards taking power from the ruling party, CCM.

Addressing reporters in Dar es Salaam yesterday, the Ukawa co-chairman and the Civic United Front national chairman, Prof Ibrahim Lipumba said the coalition will select candidates countrywide in accordance with coalition criteria.




He said joint participation in the local government elections as a coalition is a sign of  solid cooperation, that the three parties involved had decided to provide the voters the most qualified way of realizing the project of doing away with one party rule.

Joint candidates in local government elections was among the clearest methods to enable the coalition prepare to win the general election, an important symbol of cooperation. “This is to prove that Ukawa is a strong partnership and sincere. 

We are determined to provide the public the best way to redemption, to eliminate oppressive rule of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM),” he declared.
